Takashi Miike's Sukiyaki Western Django

Photobucket

This film is like a Japanese "Kill Bill". It has some gore, but not as much as Miike's earlier work. Imagine the Bloods meeting the Crypts on a Western stage set. An English speaking Japanese Cowboy rides into town to save the day. No American or Old West cliche is left unspoken, and like many Japanese films REVENGE guides ones actions. This movie is sometimes brutal (rape and violence is commonly depicted in Miike's work), but outside of the stylized violence the film is often quite funny. The opening scene alone makes this movie worth watching.
